Rating System
In horse racing, the meaning of rating can be interpreted close to 'evaluation' or 'grade'. The rating as evaluation and grade is used as a way of evaluating the ability of racehorses. The rating increases or decreases depending on the horse's race result, just as a horse gets the grade points when it wins the race in the past grade point system. In other words, rating can be understood as an ability evaluation index that quantifies the horse's ability according to the horse's racing ability shown in the race.
The rating in horse racing is generally determined in the range from 1 to 140 according to the race result of the horse, and the higher the horse's grade, the higher the horse's rating.
Rating is a figure that represents racing ability of horses, so it is given and managed by a handicapper (handicap expert) who evaluates and manages racing ability of horses in common around the world.
Countries that implement horse racing are classified according to the degree of advancement and internationalization of horse racing. Among the Part II countries, about 75% of them are using the rating system as their horse racing operating system including Singapore, Macao, Turkey, India, Malaysia, Uruguay and Zimbabwe. The rating system is being used as the standard horse racing operating system of major horse racing countries in the world.
